Calcasieu Council on Aging
The Calcasieu Council on Aging sustained significant damage from the 150 mph winds of Category 4 Hurricane Laura in August 2020. The storm caused severe structural and building envelope failures, ultimately requiring demolition due to total loss.
Williams Architecture performed the initial assessment of the 28,000-square-foot facility to support the FEMA funding process. Our team evaluated all components of the building and provided a professional valuation indicating a total loss. This assessment and estimate were accepted by FEMA, enabling the Owner to proceed with demolition.
We then provided FEMA-compliant demolition contract documents to complete the removal of the damaged structure. In December 2024, the Calcasieu Council on Aging broke ground on a new $6.7 million, 21,000-square-foot facility.
